I’ve got a fair bit I want to put up so I think I’ll do some of that today, starting with a remix we got sent of Shwayze’s “Get U Home” by Alan Wilkis. Alan has really put his touch on this, with the throbbing drum machine and loud synths which complement the vocals nicely. It really reminds me of something Master Shortie may put out. Get U Home has got some big remixes though, with remixes by Paul Oakenfold, The Bloody Beetroots, LMFAO, and VIKING, as well as Alan’s of course. Viking released a preview a little while ago actually that I forgot to post, so now seems like a good time to put that up. Ak posted The Bloody Beetroots one back here.

Shwayze – Get U Home (Alan Wilkis Remix)

Shwayze – Get U Home (VIKING Remix)

Get U Home Remix EP

Next up is a new Chubby Fingers remix of Nitro Deluxe’s “Let’s Get Brutal.” I really enjoyed this, partly because I have a headache (part in due to listening to DJ Khaled’s new song) and it wasn’t too overbearing. The synths are good and the whole song is quite melodic. It’s less busy that the original, which has some parts which would sound great sampled on a “Dirtee Cash” like song, but a large part of me prefers the remix. Especially the synth bits towards the middle and the end, well really throughout the song. Check it our below.

Nitro Deluxe – Let’s Get Brutal (Chubby Fingers Refix)

Last song today is a remix of an olden by Eric Prydz and Steve Angello. I’ve been loving Eric Prydz’s remix of “Flashback” and probably like it a lot more than the original now. This song is remix of their 2006 track “Woz Not Woz” by Norman Doray & Arno Cost. I hadn’t heard of the pair before but their stuff sounds really good, I’ll leave a link to their latest CD below so you can check it out. The remix of Woz Not Woz though has a lot of different elements to it which the duo have managed to combine together well. Nice synths left over from the original, it’s a good track.

Check out Norman Doray & Arno Cost’s album “Live & Direct” here.

David Guetta has been getting tonnes of hype for his new album, in the mainstream sense anyway. Considering ‘Pop Life’ etc all did well and had successful singles its odd that only now he’s getting so much attention. When ‘Love Takes Over’ got a no. 1, his more recent leak ‘Sexy Bitch’ has also got a fair amount of hype and I’m sure his newest, ‘I Wanna Go Crazy’ with Will.I.Am, will too (CDQ below). I’m still not Guetta’s biggest fan at all, especially now I’ve seen the full tracklist for One Love. Seems he’s another to go down the get-loads-of-guests-and-do-well route, unfortunately, so its just gonna be a big mainstream pop sesh I think. Its not that the songs are that bad (well, to an extent for some), just too poppy. Like most people though I am looking forward to the Cudi collaboration. Having said all this, the album does have one MAJOR saving grace, and that is the collaboration with Ingrosso, Dirty South & Julie McKnight on how soon is now which I posted here as a rip. Full version below, grown on me a lot, seriously good track..

Been a while since DatA‘s very tasty album was released and subsequently any new DatA. New remix of La Roux’s ‘I’m Not Your Toy’ though, very Justice-y, but far better than their recent remixes (U2, Kravitz etc). Well worth a listen.

La Roux – I’m Not Your Toy (DatA Remix)

Flo Rida’s latest abomination, ‘Jump’, with Nelly Furtado (who, I must admit, makes the chorus pretty cool) is the latest to get the remix treatment from the Designer Drugs boys. Solid electro remix, makes the song a lot more bearable, trademark DD. Via El3ctronight.

Flo Rida feat. Nelly Furtado – Jump (Designer Drugs Remix)

And lastly a new VIKING remix of The Sounds’ ‘No One Sleeps When I’m Awake’. Typical amazing electro from Viking (he really is too good) and the original vocals are pretty grand too. I must get into The Sounds actually, loved Rex The Dog’s remix of ‘Tony The Beat’ so reckon I’d like them anyway..

Oh, and Zane Low’s current hottest record in the world is Filthy Dukes – Tupac Club Rock. I though huh, that’s pretty old.. turns out its a new version featuring Wiley (Plastic Little are still in it though which is good). Will get the mp3 to you asap, in the meantime have a listen on Zane’s site.. click.

Yesterday’s post on Example’s new song included the Joker & Ginz and Fred Falke remixes, the latter of which being my favourite of the two. Anyhow, more remixes are also about, specifically those of drumnbass mastermind Blame and someone else called Moam (often mislabelled as Moon). Weird name but great remix, very progressive sound to it and great use of piano. Tiesto included it on his Clublife Podcast a few days ago. And Blame remix is great as you’d expect.

Example – Watch The Sun Come Up (Blame Remix) Thanks to funkism

Falke’s remixes of late have been of much better quality than a few months ago I’ve found, and this new one of La Roux’s Bulletproof is no different. Song’s old and there’ve been plenty of remixes but they seem to keep coming out. This is definitely one of the better ones though.

La Roux – Bulletproof (Fred Falke Remix)

And finally some new VIKING. We haven’t posted on him in a while but its good to see some more of him, his OnCue & Cudi remixes especially have been great. This time its of Cut Copy’s ‘Hearts On Fire’, one of their more well-known songs. I do like Cut Copy but I always find the vocals a bit depressing. But yeah, nice electro remix.

Oh and also a fantastic cover of ‘Hot N Cold’ by Kid British. Not into them much but this is a gorgeous reggae-like version, really great cover.

First up today are a couple of MJ remixes. I was expecting a few of these to be honest however I was expecting them from hip-hop/RnB artists, not from electro DJs. First remix is, from what I can gather, a VIKING remix of Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone.” There’s loads of other names all over the track as well but it was VIKING which I was particularly interested in. It’s quite a good remix, the looping synth and nice bg synth work very well and make for a good song. The other tribute is by Don Diablo and is a neat remix of Michael Jackson’s “Remember The Time.” It’s quite nice, nothing ground breaking but some nice simple synths and drum beat. Simple is normally best.

Michael Jackson & Bag Raiders – You Are Not Alone (VIKING & CJ Milli Shooting Stars Tribute)

Don Diablo – Song for MJ (Remember The Time)

Next remix is from Chase & Status and is of Jay-Z’s “Death Of Autotune.” To be honest I found the original ok, the chorus was pretty bad and the beat wasn’t brilliant. This remix is quite good though, however I think it just lacks that big production which would have arguably made it better than the original. The result is a nice base, however I just feel it needs something on top of it. I much prefer the remix of Nneka I posted the other day.

Jay-Z – D.O.A (Chase & Status Remix)

Last song is one we got sent from an artist called “Lushlife,” and it’s very good. It reminds me of the song Ish sent over a few week back, I wasn’t expecting much when I opened the e-mail but the song in it was actually really good. This is no different. The song samples indie group “Ariel Pink” (I don’t know what song) and features Elzhi from hip-hop group Slum Village. The result is a great hip-hop song with some good rapping and production. I really like this guy.

Well recently a remix by the very good VIKING hit the blog world and its one of his best yet. The remix itself is of a song called Inhale, Exhale, by a rapper called OnCue. I really liked what I heard so looked around for more of his stuff and found his mixtape from last November called ‘Elevator Muzik’. The mixtape is yet another Mick Boogie & Terry Urban production so if you like their past stuff (‘Viva La Hova’, etc), then you’ll probably like this.

Regarding OnCue himself, from the VIKING remix I personally thought he sounded a lot like Flo Rida, which is unfortunate – don’t let it put you off. But up0n closer listening he seems to also resemble Jay-Z a bit also, as well as a bit of T.I.. He’s white though, which is funny considering the volume and strength of his voice, if you were to consider him to Eminem and Asher Roth anyway. He’s still only in college apparently so with any luck he might end up being quite big.

As for the mixtape itself, it has a number of guest spots, the most well-known of which is probably MIMS, who features on a track called Died In Your Arms. Its not the best on the mixtape, its kind of weird in fact – OnCue raps for the first half, then you get a nice female vocaling sample, before switching over to MIMS. That sampling bit is the best part of the song I reckon.

My personal favourite from the record is the (proper) opener, suitably entitled Birth. Its some really good synth-rap I feel, vaguely reminiscent to that of Luck-One & Dekk‘s work, whose I absolutely love. The original Inhale, Exhale is also impressive, I’d listen to that prior to the remix then judge however.

Also, thanks to Jonny for telling me about this new Designer Drugs remix. Nadastrom have done a remix of the same song, I prefer the DD remix though (even though the latter’s chorus ‘Our House’ bit (I think that’s what it says) sounds like it should be on PES!). Both are sick though.
