photo:Wolfgang Staudt

First up today is the mastered version of Taio Cruz‘s single. Big probs to Team Supreme for getting it. Anyway I was going to mention this track regardless since I heard it on the radio the other day. I personally really enjoy the track, it’s an electro/dance track but it is pretty dissimilar from Break Your Heart. Has a massive drop in it as well which is unexpected for Taio. Lyrically, the song isn’t great – I mean singing about a naked photo of someone on your phone – really? Still probably the last I’ll link to off the album, which is released October 12th. I am sure I will be getting a copy – I just love what he’s been putting out recently and his previous album was also very good. Anyway, the track features Ke$ha of Right Round fame who have some autotune parts and some other minor roles. Anyway, big track. Check it out below.

Taio Cruz – Dirty Picture (Feat. Ke$ha)

Rokstarr is out October 12th and looks set to be brilliant. Pre-Order a copy here.

The only other song I have to post today is a mash-up job I guess done by Don Diablo. It’s seriously good though and I love the way all the artists styles have been made to fit so well together. The production is great on it, the sampling is really good from the Phoenix track, Fences, and the work done by Don Diablo to blend them together seemlessly with some slick production. Jay-Z’s rapping from 99 Problems is then put on top and slightly sped up, but it still sounds good and just manages to fit. It’s a really good piece from Don Diablo – check it out below.

Deadmau5 vs. Stardust- Music Sounds Better With Ghosts N Stuff → normally mashups are pretty dire but this isn’t that bad as far as one goes, I in fact quite like it. Listen on Zshare

La Roux- Bulletproof (Zinc Remix) → been on Annie Mac’s show for a while now, only just bothered looking for an mp3. Had to rip from Youtube so its just an HQ radio rip I’m afraid. Very good remix though.. Listen on Mediafire

Passion Pit – Tons of Guns → saw Nikno listening to this the other day and I didn’t have it, turns out it wasn’t on the EP/album. I like it a lot. Listen on Mediafire

De Grote Vinnie, Donnie & Sjakie Show – Day N Nite (Acapella) → recently played by Soulwax, bit weird but an interesting take on the hit. Listen on Zshare

Royksopp – Were You Ever Wanted (feat. Lykke Li) → the Japanese bonus track from Junior, not as good as Miss It So Much. Bit cheesy, its ok though. Listen on Megaupload

Royksopp – The Girl And The Robot feat. Robyn (Kris Menace First Remix) → the original has grown on me so much lately, its a brilliant track. This Menace rmx doesn’t have any vocals and is pretty good on the whole, the original production was great so this is just a bit different from that. Listen on Mediafire | Via Funkism

Grum – Sound Reaction (Original Mix) → wasn’t overly keen on Grum after hearing his remix of AVH’s You Don’t Even Know Me, but this is his latest track and its fantastic.. properly gets going around 1:20 or so. Great electro! Listen on Zshare

Friendly Fires – Skeleton Boy (Grum Remix) → Not into FF too much (maybe I should be), but this is a fantastic remix again by Grum. Listen on Mediafire

Bad Boy Bill – Falling Anthem (Herves We Are A Beautiful Disaster Remix) (Instrumental) ♥ → this barely even sounds like a Herve remix, it gets better every time I listen to it. Amazing remix, has a huge progressive house sound, reminiscent to the Mau5! Listen on Mediafire

The Gossip – Heavy Cross (Fred Falke Remix) → I prefer the original though this is a really different take on it, quite nice I feel. Listen on Zshare

Phoenix – Lisztomania (Alex Metric Remix) → the best remix I’ve heard from anyone of a Phoenix track, very nice! Listen on Mediafire

I can’t remember where someone linked to auto-tune the news. It may have been over at It’s A Rap but I really can’t remember. All I know is that I absolutely love it. It may even come above T-Pain as my favourite use of auto-tune. If you haven’t seen it you can check out the “latest” (well, a couple of weeks old) video here. I love it.

First up today is another remix of 1901 which was sent through to us. This time the remix is by Tatelarock and Troublemaker and like all their remixes, this one is very good. I’m getting a little tired of the song but remixes can keep it fresh and this take definitely does. Check the remix out below.

There’s also been a couple of video stills released today. The top image is of the video shoot and you can see the rest of photos from the set at The Boston Phoenix. Another video that’s been shot (well, quite a few years ago) is a video for Kanye West’s song “Spaceship” off of his debut album “The College Dropout.” I have found a liking for this song recently having got The College Dropout at the beginning of the year. I love the sample and the verses from GLC and Consequence. You can check out the stills from that video on GLC’s blog. God knows why the video was never released.

Last song it a remix of N.A.S.A’s “Whatchadoin?” by Villans. I really like this remix, it’s fairly raw which works really well and I just love it. Props to Pigeons & Planes and you can check the song out below. Apparently it’s a bit old but I never posted it at the time so here it is again.

Toddla T’s album got leaked a while back as well but I never noticed. I’m expecting this to be on my albums to buy list as it has some big guests and I absolutely love Shake It. I’ll give my opinion on it on Friday. I’m expecting big things.

To start some exciting news – The Google Street View car has now been down my road. If I’m in any of the photos I’ll be sure to post them up. I doubt it though. I’m going to have to divide this post into 2 as there’s a couple of new tracks which have been released which I like and there’s also been some good promotional stuff sent to us so I’ll cover that as well. I’ll do the new tracks stuff first.

First up is a new song from an upcoming CD by Malik Yusef off of Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music record label (I believe) and is called “Magic Man.” The song features Kanye West (who Yusef worked with closely on the album), Common and John Legend. A winning combination and with those 4 the track was always going to be good. I want to provide a link to buy the album but can’t find an English distributor. 101 Distribution offer a download service but you could incur charges. Just saying, I’d still recommend getting it when the album drops. Quite a summery track as well. Check it out below. Props to Pigeons & Planes.

That went on a bit, I’ll have to quickly mention a track by Billy Newton-David & Deadmau5. The song is called All You Ever Want and this is the Deadmau5 “All My Dreams” Mix. Love the feel to this track. You can check the track out over at RCRD LBL. If you like Deadmau5, you’ll probably like this.

Onto promotion stuff, a track was sent to us nerly a week ago by a group called “Amongst The Pigeons” and is called Larkin About. I wouldn’t really know what to classify this as. Laid Back, Electro and Indie and the 3 main words I’d use to describe the track. I really like the track though and recommend you check the group out if you like them. Last track (wow, this is my biggest post for a while) is a remix of Phoenix’s excellent 1901. by “Dick Laurent Is Dead” better known as D*L*I*D. The remix is really good as you’d expect and builds well on the original. I like the beats which have been added and think this is a more than worthy remix. Check the track out below along with all of todays songs.

Got a few good songs up today, two good remixes which were featured on Radio 1 last night and a Phoenix song which is probably my favourite off the album. First I’ll say that Maino’s “All The Above” has really grown on me. I posted it a month and a half ago but since then I’ve grown to like it a lot more. If you like T-Pain features, download it.

Anyway first remix is Deadmau5′s remix of Calvin Harris’ “I’m Not Alone.” Sadly I couldn’t find a radio edit so you’ll have to put up with the full 8 minute version. It’s a really good remix though and is much better than Hervés’ remix in my opinion. Second up is a remix by Kissy Sell Out to the Noisette’s “Don’t Upset The Rhythm.” If you’ve watched a TV in the past few months you’d have heard this, but when I heard the full song I was a little disappointed it didn’t match up to the chorus. This is an immense remix, really, really good. Can’t recommend it enough. Listen below.

Now Cos did Phoenix’s album yesterday so I won’t waste too much time on it. However, I will just post up a link to “Armistice” which is really tees off the album for me. It’s a really good album and one I will definitely be listening to again. So buy the album and support the band. Also I’ve re-discovered a lot of love for Simian Mobile Disco’s first album so a throwback track can be “I Believe.” I hope their second album lives up to the immensity of the first.

Well Phoenix‘s upcoming album ‘Wolfgang Amadeux Phoenix’ leaked yesterday, over 2 months ahead of its street date, which is quite something. On first listen its pretty decent, though I still maintain that 1901 is the best track from the album.

The album opener and first single Lisztomania is a good start and a catchy track. Its not amazing though, whereas 1901 is brilliant. Still though, its not a bad song at all, just fairly average compared to the latter. The 3rd track is called Fences and is a lot slower and mellower than the first 2, and is for me one of the best on the album. Its not as catchy or upbeat as the openers but is really good in its own right.

Love Like a Sunset is good, and the vocals don’t even kick in till the last minute (apparently its going to be split into 2 tracks for the official release). It seems to have the same basis as Twenty-One One Zero (not from this album) but is not as good in my opinion, but still good anyway. Lasso is the fifth track and another favourite of mine; it kind of sounds like 1901 which is a good thing. Rome is decent, parts of it have a heavier electro feel than the rest of the album. The final 3 of the album are all also pretty good, with Armistice being a nice finale. Overall I’d give it a 4/5

Was looking at the charts the other day and saw that I Love College, by a guy called Asher Roth, was doing pretty well (22 on the Billboard Hot 100 if I remember correctly?). I’d known about it for a while but never really bothered Youtubing it or whatever, but this time I thought I may as well. And I’m so glad I did, its an absolutely epic track. I mean, first and foremost this guy is white, and in recent years white hip-hop hasn’t done too well with the (until recent) demise of Eminem and so on. But yeah,it seems like this guy could be changing all that, and I hope he does.

The track in question is just really laid-back, really nice, with an almost country-like back-beat which just compliments his voice really well. Lyrics are very enjoyable too, and with only just over a month to go till his debut album ‘Asleep in the Bread Aisle’ is released it looks to be a good time for the rap industry. Notable guests on it include Cee-Lo (Goodie Mob, Gnarls Barkley) and Ludacris.

Asher Roth – I Love College Search on Playlist.com

Onto last night’s Annie Mac/Pete Tong, I’ve had a look through the tracklistings and nothing that major jumped out at me. On Pete Tong’s, I did catch a bit of Nu Frequency feat. Snax – Passage Of Time (Freeform Five Remix) though, which sounded brilliant, so as soon as I find an mp3 to that I’ll let you all know. Annie Mac had some better tunes on, including one by Louis La Roché!, and a minmix by Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve.

Not much more to post on, so I’ll just leave some other MP3s. Also, I highly advise you to listen to We Plants Are Happy Plants‘ stuff, I had one of their tracks in my post the other week and after getting some more of their stuff I really can’t speak highly of them enough.

Thought I’d post some more stuff from Chewy Chocolate Cookies after Geo did the other day. I first got some of their stuff in June of last year after their name appealed to me (for obvious reasons), and I was also impressed by them. The ‘Pepites’ EP is actually the only original stuff of theirs I have, but it is pretty decent nonetheless; still though, the remixes are equally as good. First up we have CCC’s remix of Adele‘s Hometown Glory. Its not as good as High Contrast‘s, though its different – its more intended for clubs and it works very well. Its quite slow compared to some of their other stuff but really good, and its been doing the rounds in the blog world a lot recently. Also thought I’d link you to their remix of Justice‘s Genesis, which again is very good, but for me not as good as the remix done by daTsu, but I doubt anything else will beat that.

Haven’t really got much more specific to post about so I’ll link you to the full 320kbps version of Crookers‘ remix of U2, which doesn’t have Pete Tong talking over it. Carrying on the electro theme, Soulwax‘s remix of Mr. Oizo‘s Pourriture is a couple of months old but also fantastic, and penultimately we have a track called Bluebird by someone/some people called We Plants Are Happy Plants. Its fantastic, mellow electro and is one of the best electro songs I’ve heard in ages.

Last but definitely not least we have Phoenix‘s new track, 1901. I didn’t really want to jump on the bandwagon but couldn’t resist; this is perfect pop with hints of electronic and other such genres. I hadn’t really heard a lot of their stuff before (heard that line before) so checked my library and saw I had a few other songs of theirs, all of which are brilliant. I didn’t realise it but they first became known as a back-up band for Air, which shows how good they are. And you can tell they influence them from their tracks. Links below! If you can’t be arsed with the rest then I do highly recommend Bluebird and 1901.
