Gyptian has probably made the biggest dancehall tune of 2010 so far with his hit ‘Hold Yuh.’ Nicki Minaj hopped on the remix of this and laid down a verse catapulting this tunes popularity tenfold. Superproducers Diplo and Switch did their thing on this though, dropping Minajs verse in favour of a more up-tempo bassline. All-in-all, an impressive Major Lazer remix.

I tweeted about the video to their tune “Dueces” the other day. You need this tune in your life, if you like R&B, this is your shit. When you peep the video, check out the other video Chris dropped to “No Bullshit,” he’s coming back strong.

I’d love to be on a beach playing football right now. Anyway I haven’t posted in a while so I suppose today would be as good a day as ever. First song up today is one which I’ve had for a while which is a Jason Nevins remix of Kat DeLuna’s new single “Dance Bailalo.” I prefer this song to “Unstoppable” by a long way which I thought was dire. This is quite nice and up-tempo and I really like the chorus on it. Jason Nevin’s remix is especially good – The second chorus is very nice.

Kat DeLuna – Dance Bailalo (Jason Nevins Remix)

OMG just seen the new Tinchy Stryder video on Kiss. To be honest, it’s the usual no thrills video from Tinchy but I really do love the song. Not really a fan of the mastering on the audio in the video though, although I’ll stop pretending to know what I’m on about there. Anyway we recently recieved a nice Major Lazer remix from Futures. The remix is pretty good actually, it seems to add a darker feel to the track. Check it out below.

Major Lazer – Hold The Line (Futures Remix)

Last song isn’t actually that new but I’ve seen it around alot recently so I think it’s probably going to be re-released. The song is by Swedish artist Lazee and features the lead vocalist from Swedish rock group “Neverstore.” The song is called Hold On and I really like it. Quite a simple formula but for me it works well and the rock/rap effect works well on the chorus. Check it out below. Also I’ll add the Stonebridge remix which is just immense. Check that out especially.

Major Lazer – Guns Don’t Kill Poeple … Lazers Do

Where do I start with this one!?

Major Lazer are a relatively new-ish band formed by the dance producer Diplo and London-based electro-don Switch. Judging by the sound of the (amazing) lead single ‘Hold the Line’, I was expecting the album to be awash with loud, powerful electro beats whilst being packed with club and dance hits.

Oh, how I was wrong!

Their refusal to stick to one particular genre makes this album just simply immense. It kicks off with Hold the Line. No introduction needed there! Just a massive electro based tune. You’re then thrusted straight into a blend of exquisitely sampled reggae-based beats only then to be subject to an actually briliant pop-ish song in ‘Keep it Goin’ Louder.’ This genre-defying album is like a Basement Jaxx album on crack; just downright sick.

I was surprised to listen through and realise that the album actually has a mild storyline/concept running throughout involving a fictional one-armed Jamaican military soldier surprisingly called Major Lazer. Tbh, If you dont like electro-influenced, hip-hop mash-ups then I would actually say this album could convert you. The vast amount of features including the likes of Vybz Kartel, Nina Sky and Mr Vegas to name just a few give the whole thing just an undeniable unique edge. Easily one of my top three albums of the year.

Major Lazer – Can’t Stop Now (feat. Mr. Vegas & Jovi Rockwell) listen on zShare
Major Lazer – Keep It Goin’ Louder (feat. Nina Sky & Ricky Blaze) listen on zShare

Also the word on the street is that all the videos will be cartoon-based, Gorillaz style videos which oculd turn out to be very interesting! Seriously, support these two and buy this album. Its wicked.

Somehow no-one has posted this piece of amazing-electro-piece-of-brilliant-ness. Major Lazer; a band, formed of DJ’s Diplo and Switch have been blowing up lately with a serious amount of airplay of their smash hit ‘Hold the Line.’

Oh My God. Its amazing.

On first listen, you’ll just think. Hold on, this is Paper Planes. They’re extremely similar and coincidentally, Santogold features on this track. However, this is just crazier. I can’t even describe it. You’re just gonna have to get it. Its kinda old but so sick.

Major Lazer – Hold the Line (Feat. Santigold and Mr Lexx) listen on zShare

Similar to most other bangin’ tunes, there have been a barrage of remixes of this. I haven’t had a chance to listen to all of them but this particular one is insane. Remember how good the Steve Aoki remix of Gifted was? yeah? This is so much better. Whatever kicks in at 3:52 is just crazy. Possibly my favourite remix of the year and erm, who are Golden Gloves?!

Major Lazer – Hold The Line (Golden Gloves Wobble n Shake Remix) listen on zShare

Their album leaked not too long ago as well so check back here for a review of that soon. To tide you over until then, heres another of their tunes off that album which is co-produced by the Crookers.

Major Lazer – Jump Up (Ft. Leftside & Supahype) listen on zShare

Seriously, if you know whats good for you .. get these three tracks. They’re massive.
