Firstly, some great news – the Spotify app has been approved for use on the iPhone. Sadly though, you need a premium subscription in order to use the Spotify application, however I hope that a free ad-financed version will be released in the future. It is also only really practical if you have an iPhone so you can stream on the go, or if you use your iPod Touch in your own home at a docking station. It’s still a good move though and I’ll probably be checking out the app when it is released later this year.

Onto music, an e-mail turned up in my inbox today apparently from Vancouver. It was a bit of a coincidence as I was in Vancouver just last week, but the e-mail featured a few good remixes and club tracks. The first song is a remix of LMFAO‘s “I’m In Miami Bitch” by Right Hand Barber. It’s quite a calm club track which build nicely on the original. You can check it out below.

Also up are some tracks by an artist called iamxl. The first remix up is a house remix of an old hip-hop track, Too  $hort’s “I Need A Freak.” The original song has quite an interesting history. It was made for a hip-hop compilation album in 1997 called “In Tha Beginning…There Was Rap” and is a cover of Sexual Harassment’s original version of the song, which is very old school. If you listened to that, you may recognise part of the chorus as it was sampled by the Black Eyed Peas in their hit “My Humps.” Anyway, all that out the way it’s a very good remix so check it out below. One remix I need to post is the official remix of The Sound‘s “No One Sleeps When I’m Awake” by La Dolce Vita. A couple of weeks ago we posted the VIKING remix of the track which I really enjoyed, and I really like this remix as well. The synths are really loud and sound good as does the bassline throughout, and I think it’s definitely worthy of being the official remix. In places though, the synths sound like they were sampled from some 90s dance song which I don’t really like. Still a good remix, check it out below.

Some news in case anybody particularly liked Chase & Status’ remix of Nneka’s “Heartbeat,” the track will be released on 24th August – so it looks like you could be in for a long wait if you’d like a copy.

Anyway first song up today is by Golden Gloves and is called Casablanca. The song is a really heavy electro song and has some good synths and the thumping bassline, however I have to be honest, I prefer the Barletta remix. It just seems to have a tad more structure and more of a dubsteppy feel to the record. Check them both out below.

A while back you may remember I posted about a group called AdamandEvil. Anyway one of the members of the group, Julian Shah-Tayler, has decided to release some of his own solo material. One song in particular that caught my eye was called “Wetter.” I wouldn’t know how to genrify it, I’d say Electrockdy but that’s more of a combination of genres. It’s quite up tempo and there’s some nice vocals so I recommend you check it out, especially if you liked AdamandEvil.

I don’t think this has been posted on here  – It’s a remix of Kanye’s “Paranoid” by LMFAO, although they sort of take over the song by the end. I quite like it though and Shots has really grown on me recently. I would have rather they’d just left it to Kanye and Hudson but it’s still pretty good, and a nice imitation of Kanye too.

Also there’s a version of Dizzee Rascal’s new song “Holiday” with adjusted audio here. Absolutely brilliant song, although I’m unsure whether it features Calvin Harris or not. Can anybody clear that up?

I should really start a photo blog as I actually enjoy looking through photos as much as I do posting about music. Anyway there’s a few tracks today.

First up today is the official remix of LMFAO’s “La La La.” The remix in question is the Aviators Remix and the track really does sound good. I liked the original personally but I think Aviators take on the track is as good if not better. Check the track out below. You can also watch the music video here.

The other day I featured Ish with one of his track “The Name Is Ish” and the brilliant sample of Frankmusik. Anyway he sent through another track called “Feelin’ Myself” which has some pretty nice production of it. I’ve really gone off autotune personally though which lets it down a bit for me. Still I’m looking forward to his mixtape when it drops.

There’s also Don Diabo’s remix of “Dead End” by Master Shortie. The remix isn’t bad, it’s loud that’s for sure. Doesn’t really keep much of the original song which is a shame because I thought it was ok. Still that’s what makes it different. Check it out below.

Last but not least is the CDQ version of Calvin Harris’ remix of “Supernova.” Really big song and I’m sure with the big bass it should get some play in clubs. The remix really is great so check it out below.

Annie Mac’s show the other day had some pretty good tracks on, which I’ll be posting either tomorrow or Tuesday. Including a new Louis La Roche track, but more on that in my next post.

The first track of this post is by LMFAO and features ‘crunk’ artist Lil Jon. I like LMFAO (especially ‘La La La’) as they seem quite different but make some great stuff, though I’m not really sure about this track. Other blogs have called it ‘party track of the year’ etc, and i can see why, its just a bit of a trashy song overall though. Still, its catchy and you may as well listen if you like either artist.

Secondly a new Herve track called ‘Who Da Champ’. Its a more welcome return than his last song (‘Baseball Bat’, which everyone seemed to hate) and in fact features the melody of ‘The Champ’ by The Mohawks (song made famous by Soccer AM’s ‘Tramp’). Not his best work but its decent, only a 3 minute preview or so but still.

In other news I saw an ad for Little Boots‘ album ‘Hands’ yesterday. Probably signals the start of mainstreamship for her but regardless, hopefully she’ll do well with the album. A bonus track from it called ‘Not Now’ has surfaced and I’m not sure why it wasn’t included on the main release as I reckon it’d be one of the standout tracks. Retro but very good!

Little Boots – Not Now

Now The Qemists‘ ‘Dem Na Like Me’ got a lot of attention in the blog world at the start of the year and its easy to see why. Anyhow yesterday I found a new remix of it, called the ‘VIP Mix’ (I dunno whether this means its by a guy called VIP or what), and its pretty sick. It focuses more on the drum’n'bass aspect than the original and less on the vocals and overall is a sick remix.

Lastly for today I have a couple of remixes of the fantastic P-Money‘s ‘Everything’, which AK posted about not so long ago. The original is amazing and one of my favourites of 2009 also (even though it came out last year in NZ, but still) and these remixes are good also, but not as good as the original. The first one is a rap remix featuring Scribe (who P-Money’s worked with a lot before), and 2 other guys called David Dallas and PNC. Its pretty good overall, everything blends together pretty well. Secondly I have a mash-up of Everything with Deadmau5‘s ‘Ghosts N Stuff’ (which seems to be popular for making mash-ups with!). The original Ghosts N Stuff is sublime, as is Everything, and the 2 fit together in an alright manner, its definitely not one of the worst mashups I’ve heard anyway.
