Not too long ago, Scott Mescudi dropped the debut single off his sophomore LP Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager entitled ‘Revoffev.’ Today some radio show in his hometown of Cleveland got the exclusive scoop of the new joint ‘Erase Me’ featuring none other than Kanye West.

The title pretty much sums this up. Every now and then I’m gonna post some songs that I think really didnt get the recognition they deserved on a commercial level or in terms of blogspace.

Donae’o – “Riot Music” (Skream Remix): Funky House king Donae’o had 2009 on lock with tunes like Party Hard and Devil In a Blue Dress. He dropped his first album half way through 2009; which I thought was fire throughout. Track 1 on that album was called Riot Music and a few weeks after the album dropped, super-producer Skream came thorugh with his Skreamix. He kept Donaeo’s vocals, upped the tempo and added that quality Air-Horn sounding synth to the bassline. End result was deep.

Kano – “Get Wild” (Featuring Aidonia & Wiley) : Now this tune is relatively newish. Kano is coming back to the scene with his next official single since Rock N Roller. He dropped a new mixtape in March, created little buzz. Dropped this tune via his twitter earlier this month but again, it never really caught on. Boyz Noize came harrrdddd on the beat and Aidonia and Wiley do their thing on the hook. I think this song is sick. Get it. PRONTO.

Chiddy Bang – “Decline”: No introduction needed with Chiddy. Their just sick and in Xaphoon Jones, they have one of the best producers in the scene. This tune highlights his production ability beautifully. I’d love to know where this sample came from so if you know, holla please. In the meantime, enjoy this peach.

Consequence – Whatever U Want (G.O.O.D Music Remix ft. Kanye, Kid Cudi, Common, Big Sean & John Legend): I posted this tune in November! How it didn’t blow up/get released I dont know. Every GOOD music member featuring Hudson on this sick track bringing Four minutes and 6 seconds of G.O.O.D-ness. Seriously, this tune is so sick. Infact, if you get one tune out of all these. Get this one. I love it.

B.O.B – Fuck the Money (Featuring Asher Roth): Asher Roth is one of my favourite rappers. He teamed up with B.O.B on this mixtape track to go back-to-back over this deep Kanye beat. It probably didn’t blow up because it is, ONLY a mixtape track but damn, its sick.

I’m not exaggerating when I say KiD CuDi dropped one of my favourite albums of all time with Man on the Moon: The End of Day. Its for that reason that I eagerly anticipate the sophomore project similarly entitled Man on the Moon: The Legend of Mr. Rager dropping sometime in September. This is the first single from that LP. Its called “REVOFFEV” Revolution of Evolution for those that were wandering! Check it out below:

Have to take a moment to blog this though. This has been my anthem for quite a while now. One of my favourite tunes of ’09 by one of my favourite artists. This still gets heavy rotation on my iPod.

Irrelevant as this opening paragraph may be, I really hope to hear more from Just Blaze this year. He had a couple of good production jobs last year, notably for me on Jay Electronica’s”Exhibit C”  and on Maino’s “All The Above.” He recently moved studios and has already been tipped to be producing a song on Snoop Dogg’s re-released album (and the track will feature Kid Cudi). What got me onto this? A song off The Blueprint came up on shuffle (U Don’t Know) and I thought it was great. Anyway, moving on.

First new track today actually comes from DJ Khaled, not Nas as I mentioned in the title. However, Khaled’s input is barely anything (for the best) and as Nas is more credible it made sense to put him there. The song is called Victory and is probably one of my favourite songs by Khaled. Nice piano led production which makes a change to the usual chaos in his production. Good drum beat to it as well, I think it’s as close to hip-hop as Khaled has ever got before. Also nice chorus courtesy of John Legend, I’m guessing by the song’s structure it may be the first song on the album.

The other new song is a remix from Armand Van Helden. Maybe I’ve just been behind on music lately but I haven’t heard anything from Armand for quite some time now. In fact, the last thing I have on my iTunes from him is the work he did as Duck Sauce, but he must have released something since then. This new track is a remix of David Guetta and Kid Cudi’s new track ‘Memories,’ and Armand has definitely added a darker more intense sound to the track. Bass and crazy synths included, the track gets mad at times but  manages to incorporate the original brilliantly. Check it out below.

One of my favourite joints of 2009 is finally gettin pushed for a single. After scoring a #1 with Kelly Rowland and Akon , super-producer David Guetta is searchin a third with definitely one of my favourtie rappers Kid Cudi. This shit deserves to be another number 1. I heard it in a club when it leaked last summer and despite the majority of people not knowing it, it tore the place down.

Alot of very good albums that have dropped towards the back end of 2009 have gone ‘unreviewed’ here on TrueToSound. Obviously. it would take a while to get through and review all of them so I’ve decided to shorten the process and say a few words on a handful. In no particular order:

Fabolous – Losos Way

In my eyes, Fabolous is one of the most underrated rappers on the hip-hop scene. Despite this album going straight to #1 in the Billboard album chart upon its release, I still dont feel Fab gets the recognition he deserves. Losos Way is awash with killer production, witty, clever metaphors over hard beats and features some very good guest appearances. If it wasn’t for a very good return from Hov, I’d say this is the best hip-hop album of the year. A very good album from a very good MC.

Favourite Track: Money Goes, Honey Stay (Feat. Jay-Z)
Watch out For: The Way (Intro) – One of the hardest intro tracks I’ve ever heard.

Jay-Z – Blueprint 3

Many thought Hovs next project wont be able to fulfil the bar set by the two previous Blueprint LP’s .. They were wrong!

The anticipation for this was huge. Jay-Z did a ridiculous amount of promo for it too. He appeared on practically every TV talk show there is, in the run up to its release. Helped with the success of DOA and Run This Town, this went straight in at #1. Packed with hits. Some dope features, the best production and hard lyrics makes this just about the best hip-hop album of the year for me.

Favourite Track: Venus vs. Mars
Next Single Should Be: Off That (Feat. Drake)

KiD CuDi – Man on the Moon: End of Day

The Moon Man delivered here. At the start of the year, when Day N Nite was being played on every radio station, every music channel and every iPod worldwide, I was thinking .. Cudi cant really do much better than his epic mixtape that landed last year. He silenced me and I’m sure many others with this album. I dont know if you can call this hip-hop as its very different from your Jay-Z’s and Fabolous’ but either way, Kanye has a gem here. An amazing album from the Cudder.

Favourite Track: Heart of a Lion (Theme Music)
Watch out for: Pursuit of Happiness (Feat. MGMT & Ratatat) – Deserves to be big.

50 Cent – Before I Self Destruct

I read reviews of this and people were saying that this is as good as ‘The Massacre’ and some of 50′s earlier work. Thats rubbish.

Maybe I’m slightly bias but this wasnt a good album for me. Poor sales, little promotion and lack of originality from 50 and Interscope. I’ve had two and a half albums of him saying how he is gonna kill me and leave me in a body bag and all that shit. I dont need another one. Not a fan.

Wale: Attention Deficit

Apparently his label underhsipped this massively and that led to the album floppinngggg in the sales charts. This project did something like 25,000 first week which is diabololical considering albums like BP3 are still shifting 40,000 4months after release. I feel for him in that sense but also feel an overall sense of underwelm for the album.

Favourite Track: Let it Loose (Feat. Pharrell)
Watch Out For: 90210 and ‘Beautiful Bliss (Feat. J Cole and Melanie Fiona)’ – J. Cole goes IN.

So there are five that should tide you over. I’ve still missed out several albums including the likes of Trey Songz, Mr. Hudson, Rihanna, Ryan Leslie and a whole load of UK artists I havent even ventured into. Stay tuned for more.

I tweeted the other day about Robin Thicke‘s forthcoming album ‘Sex Therapy.’ I’ve always been a fan of Thicke. He’s got that RnB slow jam shit down to a T. Here is possibly the next single from there. Features KiD CuDi. It’s not bad. Wont take the world by storm though. Check It Out.

Finally, Here are the visuals for the latest Young Money track. The buzz for the Young Money Album is growing steadily as a couple Wayne tracks have hit the blogoshpere lately and a couple tunes surfaced with Nicki Minaj doing her thang over it. That album drops on December 21st; same day as Wayne’s ‘Rebirth.’ Ensure you cop that.

Speaking of Nicki Minaj, I dont know how I didnt notice this chick before. She can spit. And shes too damn sexy.
