I wouldn’t go as far as saying i’m a massive Katy Perry fan but fair play to her. She sticks to her pop-demographic and she’s good at what she does. Her latest single as you all probably know by now is entitled, ‘California Gurls’ and features none other than Snoop Dogg.

The original has been getting quite a bit of radio time over here in the UK and i’d imagine it would be the same over in the US with it’s catchy summer-time feel to it. One thing I didn’t really expect from the track is; however, the remixes.

Yeah, i’ll admit, i like the remixes. There are quite a few remixes knocking about from the likes of Passion Pit, MSTRKRFT and even Inner Party System dropped a pretty decent one. The Passion Pit remix has been quite popular on the blogosphere in the past day or two but the other two for some reason haven’t. All of them are definitely worth checking out, so make sure you do and let us know what you think either on here or our twitter page.

A little while ago I posted the rip of Wiley’s remix of ‘Tupac Robot Club Rock’. Pretty good I must say. The full version has now surfaced and tbh the rip sounded better.. this final version uses Filthy Dukes’ own ‘Kill Em All’ remix, rather than the original, with Wiley still in. The original remix is a proper good piece of electro in fairness but I reckon Wiley would sound better without.

A while ago I read about a 3OH!3/Katy Perry collaboration and although I don’t think this is the one I heard, its a collab regardless. Its a remix of ‘Starstrukk’ with Katy on who makes it easier to listen imo, as, being honest, 3OH!3 are pretty dire. I do like Katy though, mainstream pop I know but she’s quite a character anyway. Have a listen below though, being released as a single I believe.

3OH!3 – Starstrukk (feat. Katy Perry)

And lastly the new track from Mr Fedde Le Grand. Obviously ‘Put Your Hands Up..’ was a massive success and even though it is a tune I find it pretty grating. This new track though is fantastic, much more progressive element to it, whilst containing a kind of euphoric feel. Nice vocals also.

Well firstly Simian Mobile Disco‘s apparent first single was played on Friday by Pete Tong. Its called ‘Audacity of Huge’ and features Chris Keating of Yeasayer on the vocals. Upon first listen I thought the chorus electronic vocals saying ‘Audacity of Huge’ were pretty cheesy but in retrospect I think they actually work quite well. Keating’s vocals themselves take a while to get going but again, once they do, I think they go really well. The production is much more like that of ‘Sleep Deprivation’, which I feel is their best song, so I think this is a very nice return. I prefer it to ‘Synthesise’ anyway, and its as good as ’10000 Horses’, at the moment at least.

Next up we have Calvin Harris‘ remix of Katy Perry‘s newest single ‘Waking Up In Vegas’. I know a lot of people probably hate Katy Perry as she’s mainstream pop or whatever but I actually do quite like her, she’s good at what she does at least. I prefer her to GaGa anyway. But as for the song, I forgot how good the original actually was! Very catchy and definitely as good as ‘Hot N Cold’ I feel. The remix is also pretty good, makes it a lot more club-friendly at least. Nothing that amazing from Mr Harris but decent.

Finally we have what I think is Jason Nevins‘ latest song, ‘Open Ur Mind’. In all honesty I’ve never really taken much notice of Nevins; bar ‘Its Like That’ all that time ago, all I’ve really heard him do is half-decent remixes of mainstream songs, which is fair enough but not really enough to make me look to get more of his stuff. But, I saw this song the other day and had a listen and really liked it. At first it almost sounds like a hardcore track, but if you listen more its not. The vocals imo are amazing (apparently its his take on ‘I Believe’ by Blessid Union of Souls), and the backing beat is very nice too.
