Back in July I posted the original to this tune by the somewhat forgotten rapper of G.O.O.D Music; Consequence. It’s weird really, Consequence and GLC were once the dudes of G.O.O.D, always getting feature spots on Kanye’s albums and Remixes and shit but well, ever since Cudi and Hudson have come, those two have seemingly faded into the background.

However, Consequence tweeted the above pic a few days back saying that the remix was coming soon. That created the buzz. Every G.O.O.D member on the track barring Hudson.

Fire.

Consequence – Whatever U Want (G.O.O.D Music Remix ft. Kanye, Kid Cudi, Common, Big Sean, John Legend)

This tune has sent the internet crazy. Ever since that picture appeared everywhere on the internet which was later revealed as the artwork for Vampire Weekends latest album ‘Contra,’ indie fans and more have been eagerly anticipating any song leaks from the record. Horchata was okay. This is very good.

I really like it.

Straight to the point.

KiD CuDis album ‘Man on the Moon: The End of Day’ is gonna be massive. His rise to stardom has been rapid since 1) The bangin’ mixtape and 2) the digital release of Day n Night. It’s a good look for G.O.O.D Music and Kid Cudi right now. The album drops August 25th and can be pre-ordered here.

Some unreleased Cudder dropped yesterday. No idea if this is gonna be on the album, its kinda short, it sounds unfinished, but decent Cudi nonetheless.

KiD CuDi – Call Me Moon Man

The Kickdrums are very talented up-and-coming-producers. Our very own ‘Ak’ reviewed their debut album here and gave it a pretty good rating. Tbh, I didnt really dig it that much, not really my kinda thing. However, a new tune came to my attention this morning. Pretty damn good actually. Kickdrums and Colin Munroe together seems a pretty good partnership. Check this out ..

The Kickdrums – Get Even (Feat. Colin Munroe)

A lot of blogs are posting a ‘new’ track from The Bloody Beetroots where they remix The Cool Kids – Awesome and do their own thing on it. I thought that was quite funny as we posted that track over two weeks ago!

Anyway, Professor Green is making some slow and silent movements on the UK hip-hop scene. He has been around for agesss but from what I have been seeing is releasing/leaking some tunes. One of his better tunes ‘Upper Clapton Dance’ has been subject to remix by Skream and he does do a good job. I am loving the sampling on the original. If someone can tell me what tune its from, I would love them forever as I can swear I’ve heard it before. But yeah, good work from Skream and watch this space. Professor Green is dope.

Proffessor Green – Upper Clapton Dance (Skreamix)

Jay-Z is in town. He has now done interviews with Zane Lowe, Westwood and yesterday Semtex got his chance. That interview I think was the best. Everyone is tryna get more and more information about ‘Blueprint 3′ which is going to be HUGE but Jigga is being very secretive and not giving anything away. Catch that interview below and ENSURE you get the first official single off the album here. One of the tunes of the year I think.

Wow, its been a while since I posted on here. Went on holiday last week and hit T4 on the Beach over the weekend alas explaining my absence. I was gonna do a whole review of the event but I’m sure loads of you saw some on TV and well, in truth, it wasnt even that good. Barring a closing Dizzee set, it was kinda poor tbh.

Subsequently though, I have missed quite a bit of music. I’m not gonna post any of the stuff that I missed, I’m simply gonna just start from recent shit. So first up, a re-make of a tune that I posted about a month ago. Diplo remixed Santogold’s ‘I’m a Lady’ with vocals from a certain Amanda Blank and made it, in my opinoin, epic. It was received fairly well too, has since got over 400downloads which isn’t too shabby. Anyway, Amanda Blank has herself made her version of the song, by herself. Tbh, it may even be better than the remix I posted. I really like it and will be looking out for any other Amanda Blank stuff to surface. Usually, i do not like remixes/re-makes, but this one is pretty good. Check it out ..

Amanda Blank – A Love Song

Next up, a crowd favourite at T4 on the Beach Tinchy Stryder dropped a new EP via his Twitter last week. Tbh, I have never really liked him, but he is blowing up and fast. I find it funny how everyone loves him oldddd grime stuff with the Ruff Squad now but back in ’04 when he was actually doing it, everyone though it was shitty. Anyway, this new EP ‘Star in the Hood EP Vol. II’ can be found at his site for a free download. My favourite track off there can be found below. Its not bad, not brilliant however. His new tune featuring Amelle from the Sugababes was pretty epic at T4. Ensure you buy that and support.

Tinchy Stryder – Yes or No

Master Shortie’s album, Chipmunks album, Dizzees album, Kid Cudi’s album, Jay-Z’s album are all set to drop in the next six weeks or so. It should be an epic two months for music. I may review Fabolous’ latest release ‘Losos Way’ soon. In the meantime, jump on our twitter for updates and you can also follow me here too.
And I originally had a track posted but later learned we aren’t really allowed to post it! So instead I will fill that gap with Kid CuDi‘s latest video, with Ye and Common. Old song, new video. Check it out.

I don’t really know how to follow up Ak’s post yesterday. He posted some great tracks, well all were great. I was getting soaked at the Harry Potter première in London though which was fun. Got to see a lot of the cast though. LMFAO’s album is out today – I forgot all about that. May have to check it out as I liked Shots.

First up is Alex Metric‘s remix of Bloc Party’s new song “One More Chance.” The song’s really grown on me recently and has even become popular around my college, so it seems to be going down with the fans I’ve spoken to. This remix is seriously good though, in fact I think I may like it even more than the original. Check it out below.

Bloc Party – One More Chance (Alex Metric Remix)

There’s also a new song from The Cribs. The band who brought us Men’s Needs are back with a new song called “We Were Aborted” and it’s quite good. I love the vocals of Ryan Jarman anyway and I just like the band in general. They always seemed good when they used to go on Soccer AM regularly. Anyway this song has the same catchy guitar riffs you’d expect from The Cribs and is off their upcoming album Ignore The Ignorant, released in September.

The Cribs – We Were Aborted

Last up are a couple of remixes. First remix is of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s recent song “Heads Will Roll.” It is by Tiesto who has added a Euro-Club sort of element to the song which I quite enjoy. Very Ibizaesque. Thanks to The Sound Clash for the other remix, which is of Calvin Harris’ latest song “Ready For The Weekend.” I’ve already heard (and absolutely adore) the High Contrast remix but this remix by Fake Blood is a lot rawer and goes away from the song a bit more. Still good, check them both out below.

Not a bad day as far as music is concerned tbh with 2 new leaks from none other than Mr Hudson dropping. Both tracks are from his new album – ‘Straight No Chaser‘ – out October 5, 2009. Some reports suggest that the tracks may not be the final versions and are from the album sampler, but nevertheless, they’re still impressive. The first track – Everything Is Broken features KiD CuDi, who’s verse is immense and the second – Anyone But Him features Kanye West who, as always brings some quality to the table. I think most people are expecting big things from Mr Hudson with Supernova having a massive impact on many listeners, lets hope his album lives up to the expectations. Both links are available below…

Mr Hudson – Everything Is Broken (Feat. Kid Cudi)

Mr Hudson – Anyone But Him (Feat. Kanye West)

The Arctic Monkeys new single from their highly anticipated album ‘Hambug’ - out August 24, 2009, leaked just before it was meant to debut on Radio 1. Entitled Crying Lightning it shows the band advancing their skills into a more mature style which the vast majority of fans will love, its definitely worth a listen..

Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning

Now when i first heard about this track i almost cried, seriously… Two of my favourite artists from completely different ends of the music spectrum collaborate and the end product is nothing short of incredible. The new track from The Bloody Beetroots entitled Awesome features The Cool Kids spitting over a typically fresh Beetroots beat. Both artists seems to complement each other rather nicely and like i said before the end product is immense, listen to it…

Quite a bit of news for you today so I’ll start with that. Also apologies I didn’t post yesterday, I mistimed it badly. Anyway I forgot to mention the other day that the Arctic Monkeys release their new single, “Crying Lightning” – on Monday. I may grab myself a copy off iTunes but I’m not sure. I’ve seen some live performances of the song and I’m not overly convinced. If you like their more grown up rock sound, I think it’ll be something you enjoy.

Also, there’s a very good radio rip of Dizzee Rascal’s “Holiday” floating around. By that I mean no DJ, but it abruptly starts and finishes and is nearly a minute longer. Anyway I said I wouldn’t post it because it sounds like the actual single, however if you’re desperate I’m sure you can search for it. The song is out on 31st August – Great timing for a summer song…

First song today is a remix of Simian Mobile Disco’s upcoming single “Cruel Intentions.” At this point you’re probably trying to remember what song Cruel Intentions is, however it seems it hasn’t been played yet, let alone released. It’s the one that’s going to feature Beth Ditto though. So really, this is your first chance to hear the song but with a more dubstep feel. It’s quite good, however I don’t really have anything to compare it to. So, yer.. check it out. Props – iamlordofthebus

Simian Mobile Disco – Cruel Intentions (Joker Remix) [Radio Rip]

We were asked to remove the SMD track as apparently Beth Ditto’s label don’t want it out until next year (!?) – Even more confusing is that it has some plays on last.fm. O well

Also around is a great remix of The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” by Axwell and Dirty South. I really love this, it’s long and there arn’t stages where you get bored like with some remixes. I love Axwell’s synths throughout, even if they are familiar in places with “In The Air.” This could go down as one of many favourite remixes of 2009 so far. Very nice, check it out below.

The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition (Axwell & Dirty South Mix)

Last song is a month old or so but I missed it. One of my favourite bands, Kid British, have released a new song called “Our House (Is Dadless).” It samples the classic “Our House” track by madness and features some good rapping from the members. I really like it, check it out below.

O, and it’s Independence Day in the US today isn’t it? Great film. Happy Independence to all in the US.

There aren’t many artists out there who can release records which have such a unique calming impact on the listener and yet can mix up their style with a range of different genre with such ease to produce music for other artists.

Since exploding on the scene with 50 Cent’s “When Death Becomes You,”, The Kickdrums have provided production for Chamillionaire, Young Joc, Scarface, Papoose, Talib Kweli, Little Brother, and others. The duo are known to spend countless hours in the studio; often hitting three figures, generating new material, working with artists, and mashing a surfeit of samples until they acquire their own style. There’s no wonder certain ‘music insiders’ consider the pairing of Alex Fitts and Matt Penttila to be one of the hottest around.

The album in general has no guest appearances and there is no ‘hip-hop’ vibe to it even though the duo do seem to specialise in producing for such artists. Rather, the overall genre would in my opinion have to fall within the ‘indie’ category although many people would probably disagree… The album itself starts as it means to go on; the opening track entitled Impatient (Slow Down) has a range of instruments playing throughout, with the lyrics flowing at a slow, laid back pace. This theme progresses for the duration of the album with each song having a slightly different feel to it.

The three ‘stand out’ songs for me have to be Just A Game, Personal Calamity and Out To Get Me!. Just A Game, was of course the first to be released and you can find video here. Personal Calamity starts off sounding like something you’d here from an old Nintendo 64 game, it then begins to flow into that trademark Kickdrums sound with the ending consisting of a range of different jazz instruments, with the trumpets being the most apparent – It kinda has that Mark Ronson sort of feel to it. Out To Get Me! is different from the rest of the tracks in that for once the lyrics are what make me love it as apposed to just the variety of music, it’s definitely my favourite track on the album. Links to these tracks along with the album are below…

The Kickdrums – Just A Game listen via zShare

All in all it’s easy to recognize that this is a very good album, i might be slighlty harsh with my rating but i think everyone agrees that there is room for improvement. The foundations the duo have set with this album are solid, now all they have to do is build on it by mixing it up a bit, maybe adding a few guest appearances. They dont have to go overboard like N.A.S.A. but a few appearances wouldn’t hurt. It’s definitely worth looking out for the duo in the near future.

The Kickdrums – ‘Just A Game’ EP → Amazon US | Amazon UK

Alright, so Eko posted some Ellie Goulding songs the other day. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with her, one of the best voices I’ve heard in a while and Starry Eyed is one of my songs of the year so far. So here’s a few more of her tracks, an original and a Sam Sparro cover. Both are pretty good, especially the cover. So yeah, enjoy:
