It’s kinda late right now so if i manage to finish this and post it don’t be surprised if i’ve made a few grammatical errors…

First up is a track which i have to admit i only really noticed due to a certain Brother Ali featuring in it. CasOne (Jacob Snider) and his DJ, Figure (Josh Gard), consider their music to be of a indie/hip-hop variety. Granting most of you will probably be thinking how the fuck do you get that mix from two complete different ends of the music spectrum?!.. I can explain. CasOne, although a rapper by trade doesn’t refer to his music as rap. Strange, i know but stick with me.. The majority of their songs remix indie rock songs with hip-hop and the new track ‘Flashbacks’ is no different. The best way to describe would be as a laid back, lyrically smooth type of track which definitely makes for easy listening. I just got one of his previous albums ‘Liberation’ so when i do get round to listening to it i’ll keep ya posted. They have two forthcoming albums on Unraveled Records, ‘The Monster and the Wishing Well’  and ‘Bad News For People Who Like Hip-Hop’ which will be released this year.

Next it’s yet another track from Asher Roth called ‘As I Em’ – from his album ‘Asleep In The Bread Aisle’ released 20/4. (I posted his previous track ‘Be By Myself’ here.) I suppose it is a bit unfair that he’s being compared to the likes of Eminem but for obvious reasons you could say it was always gonna be a problem… In this track he addresses the problem head on over a very catchy beat featuring Chester French - who’s mixtape, ‘Jacques Jams, Vol. 1: Endurance’ you can find on their blog.

Enjoy your Easter Eggs…

Possibly the longest week of my life just got a whole lot worse with United losing to the ‘granny stabbers’ yet again in spectacular fashion… Anyway, from a music point of view this week hasn’t been too bad with Brother Ali dropping his new EP, ‘The Truth Is Here.’ To say this this album is good would be an understatement, he’s just awesome. One my favourite tracks on the EP is ‘Good Lord’ – an upbeat opener with a very jazzy theme to it and the lyrics, as always, are beautifully crafted into it with a solid meaning. I definitely recommend you get the album.

Up next is a bonus track from The-Dream called ‘Hater’ off his album ’Love Vs. Money.’ It’s one of those songs which just grows on you and its definitely one of my favourites right now.
