Mash-Up 27/3 + Remixes

Well as I said earlier I’d be doing a post on the tracks played on Radio 1 last night and a few other tracks/remixes I like atm. This post has more of a house feel to it, so on we go.

I’ll start with Scott Mills. We’ve never posted about him before on TTS but we may as well start now!. He played some pretty good stuff though annoyingly his tracklisting doesn’t say who half the remixes were by so I’ve found what I could of what I heard. The Embers remix was, I think, the Bimbo Jones one; the Spaceman remix was the Tiesto one (I think I prefer it to the Aoki/Beetroots one actually); and Seamus Haji makes Take a Bow into a decent song (this is very very old it turns out but I only just heard it so oh well!). I like Haji, he makes decent summer dance music and this is no different. Have a listen below.

Next up we have Pete Tong. For me he played 3 new, really good house tracks. The first is Frenchman David Guetta‘s new track, called Love Takes Over. It features R&B singer Kelly Rowland (never listened to her before, but she’s good in this) who provides some great vocals over a somewhat different Guetta track – it has in fact been likened to Laidback Luke‘s work. I’ve always been undecided on Guetta, he makes some good music but I think he’s overrated and would be nowhere without his wife. Nonetheless, this track is good so listen below. The starting beat sounds very, very similar to Clocks by Coldplay actually. I can’t find an HQ version of it sadly so you’ll have to make do with a radio rip, but I’ll give you the Arno Cost & Norman Doray remix too.

The second track I mentioned was in fact called Kick Drum and its by the fantastic Felix Da Housecat. Again, this is a bit old (2 or so months I believe) but its worth posting anyway. Its got the typical Felix feel but its a bit heavier than other stuff of his – the synthy sound seems more constant than sparsely-used.

The third (and I think best) is absolutely HUGE. Its called Leave The World Behind and is by the brilliant DJs that are Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell & Laidback Luke, basically the Swedish House Mafia but with Laidback Luke instead of Eric Prydz. The vocals are brilliant and the actual beat is pinnacle, it definitely is a very good showcase of all 4′s DJing skills. Should be huge this summer.

And finally the mash-up. Annie Mac wasn’t in this week so Jaymo & Andy George took it over instead and did a very good job, playing some classics like DJ Jean - Ready For the Launch, as well as some good new stuff including Louis La RocheMe & Her, which I’ll link to as soon as I can find a good version. The 2 main new tracks they played are actually gonna be the basis of my 3rd post so I’ll leave those out for now.

So yeah, next post shall be up tomorrow probably and should be worth the wait. I’ll leave you with Fenech-Soler‘s new track The Cult Of Romance. I think its better than Black Keys personally. Very nice indie/electronic stuff though.

Oh and also I forgot to post this earlier in the week, its Ou Est Le Swimming Pool‘s remix of The Fear. You can see their style immediately and its pretty good.
